SOME THOUGHTS, QUOTES, AND IDEAS TO CHEW ON.
I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate
his life by conscious endeavor. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture,
or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious
to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look…. To
affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts.
THOREAU, Walden
Comment: I cannot express this concept better. Consciousness leading to choice
and then to the ability to transform our lives.
It makes absolutely no difference what people think of you.
Rumi
Comment: We are all worthy and it is not necessary to prove. Looking outward for
proof reflects low self esteem.
Perfection is impossible and fortunately not necessary.
Wynn
Comment: Most people intellectually understand this concept but the key is to “get
it”. Getting it is more fully defined in chapter one.

Comment: My favorite koan - the power of six words, two of them repeated - amazing!
Without good and bad there are no mistakes - only learning.
Wynn
Good communication is like a draw-bridge - both sides must be down for traffic to flow.
Wynn
Comment: When one or both ends of the bridge are up, stop trying to communicate
information and focus on bringing the ends down.
Seek first to understand and then to be understood.

Comment: Easy to intellectually understand but very hard to do in practice.
Come to the orchard in Spring. There is light and wine, and sweethearts in the
pomegranate flowers.
If you do not come, these do not matter.
If you do come, these do not matter.
Rumi
Comment: My favorite Rumi poem speaking to loving everything, especially
ourselves. If you can truly learn to love yourself (to feel and "get" not just
intellectually understand) your world will transform in amazing and wonderful ways.
Come to the orchard.
Most people when trying to learn about themselves allow their mind to leap like
monkeys from branch to branch, without realizing that it is the root that needs
examining. The essence of the root is manifested in every branch.
Wynn
Comment: Who and what we are in life is reflected in everything we think and do.
The way we are in relationships, play, work and love. As we grow, everything we do
changes as well.

Comment: I highly recommend this interesting, inspiring video that can be accessed
on the web. She discusses the functions and impact of the right and left hemispheres
of the brain.
